Margarita's ideal location, south of the Caribbean Sea, 38 kilometers from the northern coast of Venezuela, and just 35 minutes by plane from Caracas, offers a wide variety of choices for your visit to these beautiful islands.
Charter flights arrive frequently in the island, originating from European countries such as Germany and Spain, and from South America particularly Argentina, Brazil and Colombia. Also from Canada, particularly during the winter season. Margarita Island is served by the Santiago Marino International airport, located south of the island about 30 minutes from Porlamar, the commercial capital of the island. There are dozens of daily flights arriving from all over Venzuela, especially from Caracas. Flight service starts in the early hours of the day until midnight.

Margarita has an excellent ferry service, which connects to the mainland. This service is offered by a number of companies and large ferries which can also transport your own vehicle. This type of service is frequently used by Braziliand and Colombians who visit the island and prefer to drive their own cars, taking advantage of low gasoline prices in Venezuela and using their own means of transportation while in the island.
Those with their own motor or sail botas can set course for Margarita use the service of excelente marinas in Porlamar. We particularly recommend the Concord Marina, which is popular among sailors and boaters. The marina has an excelent surveillance system, potable water and electricity.
Margarita is also visited by cruise ships that dock at Guamache port on the southern part of the island. Margarita is one of the most popular cruise ship destinations in the Caribbean do to its size and infrastructure.
There is also bus service to the island, using the ferry between the mainland and the island. This bus service leaves from the main terminal in Caracas or Puerto La Cruz and takes you directly to the bus terminal in Porlamar, once in Margarita
