Bonaire Getting There

 

Bonaire_11 Bonaire has a semi-arid climate, its average temperature is 28 º Celsius, It is about 40 km long by 12km wide. To the west lies the small island of Klein, which is uninhabited, with beaches, caves and reefs which provide shelter for the colony of turtles, with 26 different dive sites.  on this. Bonaire has high mountains, the highest of which is Mount Brandaris (240m). To the north is Salagboai Washington National Park, a land and water reserve, although you can also dive there at either Karpat or Benque beaches. The entire island of Bonaire is surrounded by a reef, which is easily reachable from shore diving. In Bonaire there is little rain, there is always sun, and the island  is out of the path of hurricanes, so it is an ideal place to vacation any day of the year.

By Plane

Airlines from Europe and the United States fly into Bonaire's Flamingo International Airport. There also flights out of Bogota, but it is better to fly via Caracas as it is closer, with direct flights to Aruba and Curacao and then making a short connection to Bonaire.

You can also get to Bonaire via cruise ship or by ferry service, leaving from Curacao.

 

 

 

 

 

Once in Bonaire...

You can rent a vehicle, which is a very popular way of getting around on the island. There are many agencies that provide this service, you can choose from jeeps, pickups, cars, motorcycles, scooters, bicycles. If you're not driving, there are also numbers of taxis available for tours, transfers and excursions. The speed limit is 40 km per hour, driving on the right side of the road and following the international road signs. In Bonaire there are no traffic lights, so driving there requires paying special attention to pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists and animals.
